Re: Favorite OS?
My favorite was XP. I have no issues with Vista, but everyone else does. I've yet to acquire 7. I will soon. I hear it's amazing.

Amazing is the best word to describe windows 7, light, fast, and oh! sooo beaultiful! Unfortunately (for me) I don't have GP enough, so my trusty winxp will be in my PC for a long time, but actually my favorite OS is Slack 13, the only problem is the lack of games.

Re: Favorite OS?
Im sure Windows is the best OS for most of people, and Win7 is almost perfect (in my opinion), but to see the same desktop everyday is too boring, so I use other OSs just to have fun (QNX, Solaris, FreeBSD, Plan9). I doubt Linux will grow very much, and thats good, because its frustrating to regular users, to use it without problem you need much patience and love (!?), so, I wish a long life to windows!
(and fogive me for the bad english, Im trying to improve it so any mistake let me know OK? )

Linux is the most versatile and maneuverable OS available. So long as you're willing to take the time to learn about it, it can do just about anything.

Re: Favorite OS?
Linux is the most versatile, but most people (like me) just don't want to take the time to learn it. So for me it's Windows 7 all the way.

Re: Favorite OS?
But what's cool about Linux is that it's C based and if you learn C you can do lots of stuff with other stuff!!

Re: Favorite OS?
I tried to learn C long time ago, I never understood the pointers very well - the difference betwen *i and &i for example - macros and functions, and many others things too. The world didn't lost a great programmer anyway.

I don't use Linux at all, lol.. I don't know which version I'd use if I were to get it. I'd need to learn more about various versions first.

Re: Favorite OS?
I'd suggest you to try ubuntu 9.10, its a live cd so you don't need to resize of format partitions, you can see if you like it (but livecd is toooo slow..). If you install you can choose betwen thousands of applications and have some fun learning cool stuffs.
Afterwards if you wanna go deeper in linux you can try some more raw and customisable distros like debian and slackware

I definitely need to get Linux so I can start getting used to it because I've noticed how useful it can be.

Re: Favorite OS?
Linux is indeed very powerfull for power users , but for gamers.... no one is making games (decent games whatsoever) , it's a little bit behind, shamefully even finding drivers for a gpu are difficult to find and most people don't like using open gl for developing, developers stand with Microsoft because it's more widespread
